Yeah, I got your Green right here!

Many people are aware of the fact that I don't subscribe to the whole scam of "Global Warming" or "Blowhard Smarming", "BS" for short. I find it arrogant to think that we as a species, short of all out nuclear destruction, can really influence our environment, nay, the earth's climate just by everyday living. It has been shown that the 1930's and the 40's were a lot warmer than present, with consistent temperatures warmer than what we have been seeing today.

I had a friend the other day lament that the recent temperatures in Phoenix have been warmer than normal for this time of year. I think he is probably right, though he does think it has to do with "BS". I don't. I lived in Colorado for almost 30 years, having grown up there. While Colorado may have a reputation as being a bit milder climate than Phoenix, certainly, it was not unusual for it to be almost 70 degrees in the middle of December for as long as 2 or 3 weeks. I can remember my son and his friends playing football in the middle of the street on Christmas day and it was 72 degrees outside. I don't remember the media and people saying that "BS" was responsible for such high temps in December.

In my experience and my life, there have times when seasons were unusually warmer or colder than you might think. I would like to point out that the earth's climate is dynamic, not static. There is no set standard for how hot or cold the earth must be at a given time. The earth regulates itself much as a human body does. It goes through warm and cold periods, the ice age to extreme heat in some places. We have just come out of what scientists call the "little ice age", so if there is "BS" it's because the earth is adjusting it's own thermostat and not because GM has sold a bunch of SUV's.

I was watching the other day, pictures from a camera on the space shuttle as I was listening to mission control get ready to bring the shuttle home. I watched as the Shuttle passed over Africa, Asia, Europe and finally North America. And I looked at what our world looks like as the Shuttle passed over it. You could not make out a city, you could not make out a road, you could kind of see mountain ranges, but unless you were an expert cartographer, I am willing to bet, you couldn't really identify what ranges were which. I could make out the Mississippi river though, as that is a gigantic slash through the middle of the US.

Why I bring that up is, we are nothing compared to the size of the earth. One person is nothing compared to the mass, volume and size of the spinning blue ball in space. For all the talk about overpopulation, you really come to realize that there is a lot of open space on the earth that has probably seen very little, if any, human contact. They can't find Steve Fossett who disappeared over the Nevada territory and yet they are just now finding aircraft wreckage from planes that have long ago disappeared as a result of that search. It's basically one state that they are focused on!

I bring that up simply because we are at the mercy of the earth. Many people think it's the other way around, but all the floods, hurricanes and tornadoes, etc. testify to the power of mother nature. The earth is a living organism much as humans are and if infected like a person with say, a cold or virus, will correct itself to come back to the balance that has existed before we had megacities residing on the earth.

As I mentioned before, short of total nuclear destruction, what we do with the climate is nothing compared with the eruptions of volcanoes, Mt St Helen's, Mt Pinatubo in the Philippines and Mt Vesuvius centuries ago that almost destroyed the Roman empire. We are no more responsible for climate change through our daily lives than carbon emissions are for the icebergs melting.

It is well known that at one time, Greenland and England both as well as the Sahara were lush tropical lands as well as Newfoundland (once called Vineland by the Norse) and in England they actually produced grapes for wine! Now, what happened all those years ago to those regions? It couldn't be human activity as there were not near the population or industry to throw carbon emissions in the air. There were no highways with a gazillion automobiles driving around to do anything to change the climate, so what happened? and why is the surface of Mars heating up? (NASA itself says the temperature of Mars in on the rise, so where are the SUV's?)

NBC, the network I work for, has been doing "green is universal" all week long to spotlight "climate change". I am so sick of hearing about green that I am thinking about painting my room bright red. I have been turning on more lights and revving the car a little more just because I don't need to be preached at about saving the planet. There is nothing to save, thank you very much.

And watching that stupid pre-game show between the Cowboys and Eagles last Sunday (I had no choice, I was switching air at work and we run Sunday night Football, so I was a captive audience so to say) was just embarrassing. Turning off the studio lights except for the fact that they still had the ticker (sponsored by Toyota) still going, and the desk monitor (sponsored by Toyota too) still lit also.

All week long, NBC programming and the Today show have been preaching at it's viewers about "going green" to save the planet. If anything, I find it a sham, after all, NBC is a business and they are in 4th place at this time. They look for ratings to improve their advertising rates so what better? why, we go green! I find the whole thing embarrassing and stupid and just well, condescending.

Matt Lauer was on the today show saying "this is not a political thing, not a right or left thing". Well, Matt, you're wrong. The crisis du jour for the left is "BS". Yet, when you examine the very people that supposedly are spokespeople to stop "BS", they somehow consider themselves above the "little people" and continue living their extravagant lifestyles, all the time preaching at joe six pack that we need to change our lifestyle. How smug. These people remind me of Marie Antoinette when told that the masses were starving and didn't have bread; "well, let them eat cake".

The whole sham of Global Warming is not science, au contraire, mon deu, it is a religion as it takes a certain amount of faith to believe that we are somehow big enough to influence the environment that much. If that is true, then why are we just now "seeing" the effects of of it? I mean, the industrial revolution occurred almost 2 centuries ago, so has it taken that long for our industrial engines to generate enough pollution that is now heating up the planet? BS is both a religion and it's a political agenda.

Consider the fact that most environmentalists preach about hybrid automobiles. You know why most environmentalists hate regular automobiles? because it represents freedom! They want everyone to fit in one mold so that everyone is "equal". Socialism anyone?

Does anyone know why we now have plastic bags from the grocery store anymore as opposed to paper? Does anyone know why we have plastic bottles now instead of glass? Well, back in the 70's the wacko environmentalist were complaining about cutting down all the trees and the processes used to create glass. Guess what? now they are complaining because plastic doesn't break down in landfills and somehow the whole process of creating said plastic (read OIL) is polluting the earth and contributing to "BS".

If we were cutting down all the trees, and that has been happening, in the US alone, since we'll say the first English colonies, wouldn't it make sense that we would have a wood shortage? well, no. Why? because, paper manufacturers replant tree farms in order to keep making products! We now have more trees in the continental US than since the time of the revolutionary war!

And what about Oil anyway? did it ever occur to anyone that oil is a natural resource much like wood, water and sand? and people have been predicting for years that we are going to run out of oil. Hardly. We haven't even tapped some of the bigger lakes of oil buried underneath the oceans, not to mention shale oil in the rockies. when you look at how environmentally concious the US as an industrialized country goes, you will find, we are second to none. The US pretty much set the standard that the rest of the world now follows. And yet to hear the wacko's out there, we are the biggest polluters!

Yeah, I got your Green right here cowboy!

The problem with the whole thing, in one big sense, is the media. You have some yahoo reporter with an agenda that listens to some fruitcake scientist, without checking their facts, and all of a sudden, you have a crisis! the MSM always tries to reduce everything to a simple equation for the lowest common denominator. For every nutjob that claims there is "BS", there is another scientist that is saying, "now, wait a minute!"

Anyway, I read stuff, a lot of stuff and some of the stuff I read is from scientists that have in essence, been pioneers in the study of climatology. Sure, when I first started hearing about "BS", I said, "hmm, could it be true?" well, the more I have read, and read and studied and understood, I have come to the conclusion that it really is a political and religious agenda for the secular humanists out there. They can't stand the idea that there is something bigger than us all, so they try in their own little ways, to make humankind God-like, when after all, we nothing but a prick on the back of an elephant. A very big elephant.

I found this paper by Dr. Roy Spencer. Now, Dr Spencer is one of those pioneers in climatology who disagree with the whole theory of man-made global warming. Here is his bio;

Roy W. Spencer received his Ph.D. in meteorology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Before becoming a Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2001, he was a Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, where he and Dr. John Christy received NASA's Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for their global temperature monitoring work with satellites. Dr. Spencer is the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer flying on NASA's Aqua satellite. His research has been entirely supported by U.S. government agencies: NASA, NOAA, and DOE.

So, I will post his preamble to the paper here, as I have written well enough. But I will include the link to his paper. If you are so inclined, you can go read the rest yourself and see that he is not one of the "Goremons" that believe humans are responsible for "BS";

How Could So Many Climate Modelers Be So Wrong?

This is a question that fascinates me, not just from a science perspective, but a sociological perspective as well. I thought it might be good to address this question first:

1. All climate modelers must build their models based upon our current understanding of how the climate system works. Therefore, if there is some important - but as yet poorly understood - process that they are missing, they will all tend to make the same error. Past evidence for this is the tendency for climate models to drift away from a realistic climate over time. This suggests that it takes a higher level of understanding to capture the intricate processes that stabilize the climate system.

2. The most important example of this lack of understanding is, in my view, how precipitation systems control the Earth's natural greenhouse effect, over 90% fo which is due to water vapor and clouds. The Earth's total greenhouse effect is not some passive quantity that can be easily modified by mankind adding a little carbon dioxide -- it is instead constantly being limited by precipitation systems, which remove water vapor and adjust cloud amounts to keep the total greenhouse effect consistent with the amount of available sunlight. Our understanding of this limiting process is still immature, and therefore not contained in the models.

3. The vast majority of climate scientists are not climate modelers, and they will tend to go along with what the modelers say. After all, it is the modelers who are supposed to gather all of the specialized knowledge of how weather processes operate, and then represent them in a computer program (model) of how the whole climate system behaves.

THE FACT THAT A MAJORITY OF TODAY'S CLIMATE SCIENTISTS BELIEVE THAT OUR CURRENT GLOBAL WARMTH IS LARGELY MANMADE IS RELATIVELY MEANINGLESS FOR A SCIENCE AS IMMATURE AS CLIMATE CHANGE. SINCE WE ALL RELY UPON THE SAME INCOMPLETE BODY OF KNOWLEDGE REPRESENTED BY THE PEER REVIEWED LITERATURE, IT IS TOO EASY FOR EVERYONE TO BE WRONG FOR THE SAME REASON.

and besides, you can read Dr Richard Lindzen's "Infrared Iris" hypothesis, observational support for which was published on August 9, 2007. (you have to subscribe in order to read it) or read anything from Dr John Christy who pretty much says the same thing.

And, how about the founder of the Weather Channel? John Coleman wrote a piece for ICECAP, the International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project and here is the opening graphs which says it all;

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create an illusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmentally conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minute documentary segment.
